CREATES strongly emphasizes outreach and public service as core functions of the Centre. To this end, the Center will take advantage of NM-AIST´s vision to develop into a research intensive university offering intensive graduate and post-doc research training in Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation while being gender-sensitive. In addition, CREATES research agenda will be driven by the desire to respond to the needs and problems of the society and industry. Staff and students working on issues originating from the community or industries are obliged to provide feedback in the form of solutions or services to the community, including marginalized communities, as well as communicating their scientific findings to the wider section of the population and local industries. The agenda emphasizes translation of research results into tangible products, industrial and business solutions, and policy briefs to enable wealth creation and sustainable development.
To ensure that students are adequately prepared to serve the community the mode of courses delivery at CREATES not only offers applied sciences courses but also compulsory courses in entrepreneurship and innovations management as part of promoting linkages between staff, students, and the society and industry.
