The Nelson Mandela Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) through CREATES, was honored to host the 10th International Conference of the African Material and Research Society (AMRS) from December 8th – 13th, 2019. Themed “African Materials for African Development”, the conference attracted 336 attendees from premier science and research institutions across four continents and 39 countries. Pre-conference workshops afforded 144 students and early career materials researchers and technologists unique opportunities to learn of new technologies, innovative projects and engage in pre-conference networking with leading industry experts. Honored guest Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. William Ole Nasha set an inspiring tone.
NM-AIST gratefully acknowledges the support of our many conference sponsors including TANAPA, CRDB, COSTECH, MoEST, CREATES, NSF, WPI, MRS, IUCEA, TBL, DST, Rutgers, ICTP, NCAA, IMP, Northwestern University, BITRI. These sponsorships allowed for the sharing of knowledge, fostering of relationships and the inspiration and promotion of Africa’s future researchers and innovators of African materials for African development.
